COMMUNICATIVE APPROACH AS AN EFFECTIVE MEANS OF FORMING INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS MAJORING IN SPORTS (0.19 Mb, pdf) Read

Annotation:

The purpose of the research is to scientifically substantiate and test a set of pedagogical conditions that contribute to the formation of intercultural competence of students majoring in sports.

Methods and organization of the research: study of literary sources and best practices on the research topic, pedagogical observation, interview and survey.

Research results and their discussion. The study was conducted among 1st year students of the Institute of Sports of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2024-2025. It confirmed the need to develop intercultural competence in students majoring in sports, because students must master the culture of English-speaking countries, knowledge, skills and communication abilities. Pedagogical observation showed that students study a foreign language as a social product, and classes contribute to their socialization.

Conclusion. By engaging in interpersonal relationship with native speakers, studying behavioral stereotypes of another culture, possessing a certain level of intercultural communicative competence, a student will be able to achieve mutual understanding in the process of interaction with representatives of other countries. As a result, the process of learning a foreign language turns into intercultural learning. This in turn helps to overcome stereotypes, conduct an analysis of the cultural and regional realities of the countries of the studied language.
