The purpose of the research is to determine significant indicators of physical fitness by correlating the results in the 400 m run and pedagogical testing of athletes specializing in long sprint.
Research methods and organization: analysis of scientific and methodological literature and information sources, anthropometry, dynamometry, pedagogical testing, mathematical and statistical methods. The population of the subjects: 24 (400 m) runners, whose age was 16.92 ± 0.46 years, sports result – 49.76 ± 0.86 s. The research was conducted on the basis of a sports school in Panjin, China.
Research results and their discussion. Using paired correlation analysis, the parameters of general physical fitness and athletic performance of the 400 m runners were analyzed. This analysis was carried out in order to determine the most significant test exercises, the coefficients of which were distinguished by high values – r > 0.700. The highest values of the correlation coefficients were recorded between the indicators in the 30 m run in motion (r= 0.920), the five-fold jump on the left (r= – 0.792), 5 kg core throw from bottom to back (r= – 0.789, p<0.001). Closely correlated with competitive results in the 400 m race are four running tests, three jumping tests, two using the athletic core, one each to determine strength and coordination abilities. Using this group of tests, it is possible to determine such physical qualities and abilities as speed, special endurance, speed-strength abilities, explosive strength, strength, coordination.
Conclusion. A set of 10 exercises should be used to monitor the general physical fitness of 16-17-year-old qualified 400 m runners. The complex includes selected significant test exercises: running 40 m on the move, running 150 m from a high start, running 500 m from a high start, long jump from a place, 5-fold jump on the right (left) leg from a place, 5 kg core throwing from bottom to forward and bottom to back, bench press barbells and a long jump from a place with your back in the direction of movement.
