The research purpose is to develop a modified method of training powerlifters at the competitive stage of their preparation and experimentally determine its effectiveness.
Methods and organization of the research. The experiment involved 18 male powerlifting students aged from 18 to 21 years old, who were divided into the experimental (EG) and control (CG) groups. The experiment included comparative assessments of competitive deadlifts and block deadlifts before the start of the study, and at the end of the observation, where the increase in strength results was determined using traditional and modified training methods at the end of a six-week training cycle.
Results and their discussion. The results in the control exercises, as well as the own weight of the subjects from the EG and CG, were close at the beginning of the pedagogical experiment (P>0.05). By the end of the experiment, EG athletes who used the modified training method showed a significant (P<0.05) increase in the results of deadlift (25.8%/40 kg) and block deadlift (23.2%/40 kg) in comparison with the results of athletes from the CG, while the athletes’ own weight did not have significant differences in both groups.
Conclusion. As a result of the experiment, it was established that the modified method of deadlift training turnedout to be the most effective in training athletes of the 1st sports category and candidate master of sports (CMS) and can be used in training athletes of this qualification.
