The purpose of the research is to evaluate the impact of academic classes in elective disciplines in physical culture and sports on the motor activity of students.
Methods and organization of the research. The study was conducted from September 2023 to January 2024. 330 students of the 1st-2nd year of the Belgorod State National Research University took part in the study, 180 of them were girls and 150 were boys. 22 groups were formed. Research methods: study, analysis, comparison of scientific and methodological literature data on the studied problem of domestic and foreign scientists, pedometry, correlation analysis, methods of mathematical statistics.
The research results and their discussion. The correlation of weak strength was noted only in girls and boys belonging to the main health group (MHG) for health reasons (girls MHG – r = 0.34; boys MHG – r = 0.36). No correlation was found in students of the special health group (SHG). Significant differences in the parameters of pedometry were revealed. Classes in one type of motor activity (sports) within the framework of the subject "Elective disciplines in physical culture and sports" do not have a significant impact on the indicators of students' motor activity.
Conclusion. An assessment of the impact of academic classes within the discipline "Elective disciplines in physical culture and sports" on the indicators of average daily pedometry showed engaging in types of aerobic physical activity and sports games allow students to meet the norm of average daily physical activity recommended by World Health Organization. Other types of motor activity (sports) do not allow achieving the standard amount of locomotion. We can recommend that students who are characterized by a sedentary lifestyle choose physical activity (sports) associated with aerobic exercise or sports games for independent training and classes within the discipline “Elective disciplines in physical education and sports”. Students whose lifestyle is of a high-intensity nature can choose other types of physical activity (sports).
