The use of digital technologies in the academic discipline “Physical Education and Sport” supposes the presence of objective descriptors for evaluating the effectiveness of students’ physical education. One of such descriptors is the sports and technical training (STT) of students of the main department.

The purpose of the research: to identify the characteristics of the dynamics of the STT indicators of the 1st-3rd year students of the main department of educational groups of general physical training (GPT) with a sports focus (athleticism).

Methods and organization of the research. To evaluate the STT of students of the main department of the General Physical Fitness-Athleticism study groups, the following tests were used: bench press and squats with a barbell on the shoulders. Testing of students of the 1st-3rd years was carried out at the beginning and at the end of the 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters.

The research results and their discussion. As a result of the research, the features of the dynamics of STT indicators of boys and girls of 1st-3rd year were revealed. The strength of the arm extensor muscles, unlike the strength of the leg extensor muscles, has the same level of development in 1st-3rd year boys. In 2nd year girls, compared to 1st year girls, significantly higher indicators of both bench press and squats with a barbell on the shoulders were recorded.

Conclusion. The features of the dynamics of the growth rate of STT indicators of students of the 1st-3rd years of the main department of the educational groups of the General Physical Training and Athletics were revealed. Gender differences in the level of development of the STT indicators have been established.
