The institutional and substantive transformation of Russian higher education after leaving the unified educational zone of the “Bologna Process” and, in accordance with national interests and academic traditions, the updated requirements and approaches to the professional training of specialists for the field of physical culture and sports significantly increase the role and importance of high-quality training of personnel potential in this area. Resources in solving this problem are modernization of the educational and research activities of students at the university, innovation of its content, as well as the search for modern mechanisms for attracting students to scientific research. These circumstances determine the relevance of the article.
The purpose of the research is to determine and substantiate a set of promising trends aimed at enhancing the participation of future physical culture teachers in research, practice-oriented activities at a sports university.
Research methods and organization of the research. A set of approaches was used, including systemic, axiological and comparative approaches. The research materials included the authors' early scientific research: the development of a modern paradigm of physical education in universities, and a comparative analysis of international projects to ensure the social security of youth, which are the basis for organizing student research activities at a sports university, and determine its current content. Theoretical methods were used: systemic and comparative analysis, generalization. Empirical methods include “participant” observation, conversations, questionnaires and interviews. The study involved 3rd-4th year bachelors and 1st-2nd year master's students in the training direction "44.04.01 – Pedagogical Education", as well as teaching staff of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology in the Field of Physical Culture and Sports of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Research results and discussion. The role and significance of the participation of future physical culture teachers in practice-oriented research activities have been updated to develop their design and research competencies and the research type of future professional activity. A description of the system of research activities of students at the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, in particular, at the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology in the Field of Physical Culture and Sports, is given. A scientific review of modern domestic and foreign psychological and pedagogical literature in this area was carried out. The features of the organization of scientific research activities of future teachers of physical culture are highlighted. Problematic issues were identified based on a survey of students and analysis of sources. The characteristics of the main directions and trends of this activity in modern conditions are presented.
Conclusion. Current trends in the development and organization of research work of future physical culture teachers are identified with effective psychological and pedagogical support for this activity from university teachers.
