Annotation:

Purpose of the research is to scientifically substantiate the methodology of technical and tactical training of table tennis players with the directed development of cognitive abilities and to prove its effectiveness in practice.

Materials and methods of the research: theoretical analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature and program and regulatory documents; pedagogical experiment; psychodiagnostics; expert review; pedagogical testing; methods of mathematical statistics.

Results. Based on the results of the analysis of scientific and methodological literature on the research topic, pedagogical observations and experimental studies, we have developed and put into practice a method of technical and tactical training of table tennis players with the directed development of cognitive abilities.

Conclusion. The results of the pedagogical experiment allow us to conclude that it is necessary to develop cognitive abilities in the process of sports training from the preparatory period, gradually complicating technical and tactical tasks with the directed development of attention, thinking, memory and specialized perception.
