The situationality of freestyle wrestling as a sport, the high intensity and pace of fights determine the need for quick simple and complex reactions of athletes, require them to process and analyze specific information at a high speed and make the right technical and tactical decision in response to the opponent's actions in real time. The variety of acyclic movements performed in a sports fight with variable intensity in accordance with the need for timely response to the activity of the opposing opponent forces wrestlers to be resourceful and strive for non-standard ways of solving tactical tasks, which is possible only on the basis of sufficient coordination training of athletes.

The research purpose: to increase the level of coordination training of freestyle wrestlers aged 12-13 years.

Materials and methods of the research. A pedagogical experiment using the developed methodology for developing coordination of freestyle wrestlers at the training stage was carried out for 6 months: from November 2023 to April 2024 on the basis of the Legionnaire Sports Club in Naberezhnye Chelny, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. In total, 20 athletes aged 12-13 years old, with II and III sports categories, engaged in the training stage of the first year of study, took part in the research.

Results. Analyzing the testing indicators, it can be noted, with approximately equal initial values in both groups, significant positive changes occurred in the athletes of the experimental group by the end of the pedagogical experiment. In the control group, the indicators also improved, but not as significantly as in the experimental group.

Conclusion. It was found that the exercises we proposed introduced into the training process increase the effectiveness of freestyle wrestlers' training, as evidenced by the indicators of control exercises, which were significantly better in the experimental group than in the control group in five tests out of seven.
