The purpose of the research is to experimentally prove the informative value of the oxygen consumption efficiency coefficient for determining the dynamics of changes in the functional fitness of highly qualified swimmers during a simulation test on the Vasa Swim Ergometer biokinetic simulator.
Methods and organization of research. The functional conditions were assessed using the oxygen consumption efficiency coefficient, which was calculated during a simulation test on the Vasa Swim Ergometer biokinetic simulator using the Сortex Meta Lizer 3B spiroergometry system. The competitive activity of swimmers during the experimental training period was also analyzed.
Research results and their discussion. During the experiment, improvements were demonstrated in the dynamics of competitive results, indicators of the average group increase in results, indicators of the "time between distance parts", as well as the efficiency coefficient of oxygen consumption. Multiple correlation analysis between these indicators confirmed a high degree of correlation.
Conclusion. The relationship between the competitive result and functional training demonstrates both the high degree of influence of functional training on competitive performance and the sufficient information content of the oxygen consumption efficiency coefficient in determining the level of an athlete's functional state.
