The research purpose was to develop and theoretically substantiate a diary of volitional self-control of competitive activity of kettlebell-lifters.

Methodology and organization of the research. The study involved 72 highly qualified kettlebell-lifters who were members of the Russian national team. During the two-year training cycle, the athletes of the experimental group used the developed diary of volitional self-control in the training process.

The results of the conducted study showed that the introduction of a diary of volitional self-control of competitive activity has a significant impact on the formation of regulatory abilities of the volitional sphere of athletes and competitive performance under conditions of constant exposure to stress factors.

Conclusion. The developed diary of volitional self-control is an effective part of the volitional training system of highly qualified kettlebell-lifters. The introduction of practical training into the educational and training process contributes to the development of self-awareness of athletes and the ability to manage their own behavior in conditions of high competition and an extreme level of sports results bordering on the limit of human capabilities.
