The research purpose is to determine the efficacy of using the "Spider" auxiliary swimming training device as a means of improving performance in the training of sprinter swimmers.
Methods and organization of research. Through the methods of collecting and analyzing specialized scientific and methodological literature, as well as mathematical statistics, the obtained data were systematized to form conclusions and further author recommendations. The study was organized between 2022 and 2023 at the "Politechnik" sports complex in St. Petersburg, involving an experimental group (EG) of sprinter swimmers, consisting of 6 males aged 17-23 and 4 females aged 17-21 of high qualification.
Results and discussion. The conducted research showed that all respondents without exception demonstrated progress in the 4 experimental directions: the "start" parameter, having the best rank indicator, achieved an average performance improvement of 22.5%; the "turn" parameter – an average of 20.7%; the "finish" parameter with an average result of 9.9%; and the "competitive performance" parameter achieved an improvement of 7.7%.
Conclusion. Based on the obtained positive experimental results, it can be concluded that the "Spider" auxiliary device is undoubtedly a highly effective tool for developing physical, coordinative, and technical-tactical qualities in sprinter swimmers, helping to achieve practical improvement: to a greater extent in the start (22.5%) and turn (20.7%), and to a lesser extent in the finish and overall performance on the distance.
