Purpose of the research. To conduct a comparative analysis of the physical development of children aged 8–10 years in Krasnodar (Russian Federation) and Chongqing (People’s Republic of China).
Methods and research design. The study included a comparative analysis of physical development indicators in 8–10-year-old schoolchildren from Krasnodar (RF) and Chongqing (PRC) at the beginning of the academic year. Anthropometric and functional research methods were used. Statistical processing included the calculation of means and standard deviations, and assessment of the significance of differences between groups was carried out using Student's t-test at a significance level of p < 0.05.
Results. The study results showed that children aged 8–10 years from Krasnodar surpass their peers from Chongqing in body length, body weight, and strength indicators (p<0.05). However, schoolchildren from Chongqing have significantly higher values of vital lung capacity (p < 0.05).
Conclusion. The obtained results highlight the need to consider (national) characteristics of physical development when designing physical education programs aimed at optimizing physical qualities and strengthening the health of primary school children.
