The purpose of the research is to present theoretical, methodological and organizational substantiation of the model of sports and educational environment of identification and support of children gifted in sports, developed in the authentic conditions of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra.
Materials and methods of research. The analysis of domestic and foreign literary sources on the problems of identification of giftedness in sports was carried out. The practical experience of training the Olympic reserve in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra was studied. In the conditions of the Yugra college-boarding school of Olympic reserve, studies were carried out using the method of organizational modeling to substantiate the regional model of the sports and educational environment for identifying and accompanying children gifted in sports.
Research results. In the Russian Federation, the process of identifying children gifted in sports, optimization and their further support is based on a monomodal approach. Abroad, the multimodal approach, which involves an emphasis on groups of sports or the possibility of transition from one sport to another, is the priority. In both cases, it is necessary to substantiate long-term models of sports-oriented development of children and adolescents. It is determined that the model of sports and educational environment to identify and support children gifted for sports is a system-forming object for regional programs of children's sports development and Olympic reserve training.
Conclusion. In the authentic conditions of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, Yugra college-boarding school of Olympic reserve becomes the basic institution of innovative type for the formation of regional model of sports-educational environment of identification and support of children gifted in sports. The model assumes organizational and functional interaction of sports institutions at the regional and municipal levels. The state-public forms of regulation of children's sports that have developed in Russia allow for such types of integration interaction in the identification of sports talents as: coordination regulation, functional interaction, sports consulting, creation of individualized development programs and development programs for sports.
