The article deals with the issues of studying the peculiarities of balancing by highly qualified acrobats.

Objective – to compare the stability of the vertical pose in the conditions of performing the Romberg test and balancing the simulator and the partner in a handstand.

Methods and organization of the study. The assessment of the equilibrium function was carried out on the STPL stabilographic platform of the company "Mera-TSP" LLC when the upper and lower partners performed balance exercises. A total of 22 pairs of highly qualified acrobats were examined.

The results of the study and their discussion. In the studies, attention is drawn to the sharp difference in the results characterizing the ability to control the position of the body in the Romberg pose and tests with a sports orientation. At the same time, the lower acrobats spend a significant amount of energy on adjusting the position of the simulator or the athlete. If the acrobat spends 203.0 MJ/s in the Romberg pose with his eyes closed, then when holding the upper one in a stand on straight arms – 12527.6 MJ/s. At the same time, the velocity (V=83.5 mm/s) of the movement of the common center of pressure of the system of bodies increases significantly. The area of the statokinesiogram also increases dramatically. The use of the Romberg test and exercises characteristic of pair acrobatics as tests showed their weak relationship.

Conclusion. The revealed differences in the kinematic characteristics of the used regulation tests in athletes are probably related to the specifics of sports activity. This allows us to abandon the use of the Romberg test to determine the stability of highly qualified athletes.
