The purpose of the research. In this work, for the first time in Kyokushinkai, an analysis of the age of athletes - participants in top-level competitions was carried out. The importance of the study is associated with the progressive development of the sport and an increase in the age of activity of athletes. The purpose of the work was to determine the average age of participants and prize-winners of world championships, depending on gender and weight category.
Research methods and organization. The analysis was carried out for four world championships of the World Kyokushin Union KWU (2013-2019). The dates of birth of 812 male athletes (9 weight categories) and 255 female athletes (6 weight categories) were analyzed and statistically processed.
Research results and discussion. As a result of this work, for the first time for Kyokushinkai, data on the average age of participants and prize-winners of the highest level competitions were obtained, which amounted to 27.1 ± 0.20 and 25.8 ± 0.37 years for men; 24, 9 ± 0.32 and 25.8 ± 0.55 years for women. The median age is about one year younger than the average age. In general, it can be argued that Kyokushin did not undergo general trends in the rejuvenation of sports - the zone of the highest results was 23-28 years for men and 22-29 years for women. It was established that 33 years for men and 35 years for women can be considered the limit of successful performances. It was also found that men with an increase in the weight category have a clear tendency to increase the average age for both participants and prize-winners, while women have a much weaker trend.
