Article
The purpose of the research is to analyze the actual nutrition of basketball players before and after irregular educational events.
Methods and organization of the research. Assessment of the actual nutrition of male basketball players, students of Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture was carried out twice: in 2022 (n=24, 20,9±1.8 years) and in 2023 – (n=26, 22.1±1,7 years). In 2022, based on the results of an assessment of actual nutrition, individual counseling was carried out for each athlete. The actual nutrition of athletes was studied by the frequency method, using the computer program “Analysis of the state of human nutrition” (version 1.2.4 of the State Research Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, 2004). After analyzing the results, the athletes were given detailed individual recommendations for optimizing their diet. Data processing was carried out using computer programs IBM SPSS 20.0 (IBM, USA), Excel 7.0. The study protocol (No. 11 dated December 15, 2021 on the topic FNI No. FGMF-2022-0004) was approved by the ethics committee of the Federal Research Center for Nutrition and Biotechnology.
Results and discussion. The nutritional structure of the examined basketball players was suboptimal. The frequency of consumption of grain products and dishes was lower than recommended (on average 3.4 servings/day). Average daily consumption of meat products and meals in the first study met recommended levels (an average of 2.3 servings/day) and decreased to 1.9 servings/day in the second. A high frequency of consumption of confectionery products was noted: from 2.5 servings/day during the initial examination to 3.6 servings/day in the second. A low level of consumption of dairy and fish products, vegetables and fruits was revealed. A positive result of personal consultations for athletes is a significant increase by 25% (p=0.023) in the frequency of vegetable consumption in the second study.
Conclusion. For the first time, data on the assessment of the actual nutrition of male basketball students at the level of candidates for master of sports and 1st-2nd category in dynamics are presented. The effectiveness of individual consultations aimed at correcting eating behavior can be increased by conducting dynamic studies assessing the compliance of actual nutrition with current tasks at each stage of the training process.
