The purpose of the research: to identify approaches to assessing the psychological component of the psychophysical state and assess its impact on the result of competitive activity of young ski racers. Materials and research methods. The analysis of approaches to the assessment of the psychological component of the psychophysical state was carried out based on the results of the analysis of literary sources. In the course of an empirical study using survey methods, the following were revealed in young ski racers: the motivational component of sports activity, psycho-emotional state, volitional qualities, anxiety level and communicative abilities. The study was conducted on the basis of the Municipal autonomous institution of additional education "Sports school "Record", Tchaikovsky in 2023. The influence of the psychological component of the psychophysical state on the result of the competitive activity of young ski racers was determined on the basis of correlation analysis.

Research results. Research shows that the psychophysical state of athletes is considered in terms of physical, functional, psychophysical components, psychological and physical fitness. The authors proposed to evaluate the psychological component of the psychophysical state by indicators of motivation, psycho-emotional state, volitional qualities, anxiety level and communicative abilities. It was revealed that the result of competitive activities of young skiers-racers is significantly influenced by indicators of anxiety and volitional qualities. A moderate contribution to the result of competitions is made by a psycho-emotional state and motivation. At the same time, interpersonal relationships and competitive anxiety are weakly associated with the results of competitions. Communication abilities practically do not affect them.

Conclusion. When assessing the psychological component of the psychophysical state, first of all, it is necessary to pay attention to the indicators of volitional qualities, which have shown the closest connection with the result in competitions of young ski racers, and it is also worth paying attention to the pre-start psycho-emotional state.
