The research purpose was to study the effect of hypoventilation training on the performance of athletes with speed-strength physical exertion to the limit of physiological capability.

Methods and organization of the research. Athletes performed speed-strength exercise load with their hands on exercise equipment against the background of maximum voluntary breath-holding before and after hypoventilation training. The duration of breath-holding, the number of power movements and parameters of heart rate variability, central hemodynamics and electromyography were measured.

The research results. Hypoventilation training increased the duration of the maximum voluntary breath-holding by 27±8% during exercise and the number of power movements against the background of the delay by 31±12%. After hypoventilation training of athletes at rest, the value of the standard deviation of the duration of adjacent cardiac cycles increased from 42±5 to 52±4 ms due to an increase in parasympathetic tone. During exercise, athletes increased the minute volume of blood flow and the amplitude of the electromyogram, decreased the total peripheral resistance.

Conclusion. Hypoventilation training increased the ventilation and motor resistance of athletes to hypoxia as well as their performance during speed-strength load against the background of maximum voluntary breath-holding.
