Sport and academic career of a student-athlete: coach’s view (0.49 Mb, pdf) Read

Annotation:

Purpose – study of the attitude of coaches toward the integration of educational process and sport training of elite student-athletes. Research methods – a questionnaire based survey. The survey comprised 56 coaches having over 18 years of employment period in the sport sphere. Results – over a half of the total number of the survey participants (57,2%) assist to their students in choosing higher educational institution; and supervise their study process. The most of coaches think that while being a member of the national team the athlete should focus on online education, and he/she should attend the classes and take exams after major sport events. Conclusion – questionnaire based survey focused on coaches working with elite student-athletes revealed their pro-active position concerning educational activities of their students, and consequently they are ready to interact with educational organization on the issues of integration of educational and training process of their students during university period.
