Leadership capacity enhancement of future physical education teachers in the proffessional training process (1.66 Mb, pdf) Read

Annotation:

The active leader position of the physical education teacher facilitates more effective resolution of physical training problems, being at the same time reflection of the students’ consent to a teacher’s pedagogical authority and an indicator of professional success of pedagogical activity. Purpose: to develop and justify leadership capacity enhancement of future physical education teachers, to experimentally check its efficiency in the course of professional training. Materials and methods: The following additional tools of vocational training of future physical education teachers are suggested: - execution of organizational game-playing exercises, collective problems resolution involving every student in the leadership process, promoting effective team management skills and giving the initial experience of leader activity; - holding practical classes with the use of resource cards. This kind of activity encourages for taking independent decisions in the situations modeling professional activity of the teacher of physical education. It upgrades leadership experience obtained during execution of organizational game-playing exercises. Results: Expert assessment demonstrated the high level of leader abilities of a cognitive component (intelligence, learning ability, educational aspect) of 38% of students in the experimental group; leader abilities of a communicative and reflexive component (sociability, reflexivity, empathy) of 52% of students of an experimental group; leader abilities of organizational and activity component (organization, responsibility, mobility) of 46% of students of experimental group; leader abilities of personal and creative component (initiative, creativity, need for achievements) of 44% of students of experimental group.
