The study proposes a new socio-cultural interpretation of «sport (sport activities)», «sport competitions» and «sport training» notions as manifestations of human culture. The article reveals the content of humanistic, creative and value-regulatory functions of sport (sport activity) as a part of human culture. The author describes a person-oriented and resource-pragmatic attitude to sport (sport activities) and their practical demonstration (in particular, in relation to children sports). It is proved that the social and cultural «sport (sports activity)» phenomenon is a manifestation of labor (professional) activity in the social and humanitarian sphere, depending on general labor patterns, and at the same time disposing of the specific ones. The author formulates the object and subject of the sport (sport activity) pedagogics as independent area of general pedagogics. The research problem, theoretical and practical problems of sport (sport activity) pedagogics are specified.
