Research objective: The aim of the study was to develop and assess the effectiveness of an experimental version for constructing the transforming blocks of selective orientation to increase a physical fitness level of polyathletes aged 12-13 years.

Methods and organization of the research. The study involved the methods of pedagogical testing, scientific literature review, pedagogical experiment, and mathematical statistics. The 16-weeks study brought together 38 polyathletes aged 12-13 years divided into intervention and control groups.

Results and discussion. The authors developed the content of training blocks of selective orientation aimed at the refinement of speed characteristics, strength characteristics and endurance, in accordance with specific characteristics of polyathlon as a kind of sports. The authors considered leading and lagging activities for polyathletes aged 12-13 years.

Conclusion. Implementation of the transforming blocks of selective orientation aimed at the refinement of speed characteristics, strength characteristics and endurance with consideration of leading and lagging fields at the specific preparation stage resulted in reliable enhancement of relevant physical fitness and competitive performance parameters in polyathletes aged 12-13 years. It is advisable to use the research results for planning the training process in polyathlon.
