The adaptation of cardiovascular system to physical exercise depends on the interaction between genetic and environmental factors. The aim of the study was to analyze morphological and functional characteristics of myocardium and the ACE and PPARA gene polymorphisms of all-round speed skaters and rowers. The most favorable combinations of genotypes for all-round speed-skating and rowing performance, as well as interrelation between genes polymorphisms and myocardium hypertrophy were revealed.
