Целью исследования явилось выявление актуальных проблем, сбор и анализ фактической информации по проведенным исследованиям в области физиологии, биомеханики, теории и методики спортивного плавания (по материалам зарубежной печати). Анализу подверглись 20 англоязычных статей из научных журналов, зарегистрированных в ведущих базах цитирования. Анализ научных работ зарубежных лабораторий показал, что специалисты ведут интенсивную работу по совершенствованию научно-методического сопровождения системы подготовки в плавании. Актуальными направлениями исследований являются: анализ биомеханических характеристик техники плавания, применение различных средств повышения работоспособности, профилактика отклонений в состоянии здоровья пловцов. Идет активная работа по созданию информационно-технических продуктов, систем сбора и анализа данных на основе современных технологий и средств визуализации. Однако зарубежными учеными мало внимания уделяется планированию тренировочных нагрузок и развитию специальных физических качеств пловцов. Практически отсутствуют сведения о методах тестирования специальной работоспособности, особенно в полевых условиях.
