The purpose of the research was to develop a way to design physical culture and recreational activities for young people in the region with extreme natural conditions by means of tourism.

Methods and organization of the research. The main methods of the research were the content analysis of the documents regulating different types of tourism and the design method.

Results of the research. On the basis of the theoretical analysis of regulatory and legal documents, materials of scientific research on the spread of tourism related to the motor activity of young people, it is shown that currently there are not any documents and regulatory legal acts regulating health, recreational and physical tourism as independent types of tourism.
Statistical analysis of reports of educational organizations (580 higher educational institutions and 1972 professional educational organizations) for the last five years showed that youth tourism as a sport-health-improving and physical-cultural-recreational type is developing only in some large educational institutions (13.2% and 3.4%, respectively) and is not yet widespread.

Conclusion. The study of the natural environment of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the possibilities of cultivating various types of tourism allowed us to propose a way of designing options for sports and recreational and physical culture and recreational tourism for young people, taking into account the harsh climatic conditions.
The possibility of combining sports and recreational tourism with other types of tourism in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is shown.
