The purpose of the research: to select tools for identifying and assessing fatigue in qualified basketball players (using the example of a university team).

Methods and organization of research. The following research methods were used: analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature; testing, methods of mathematical statistics. The study was conducted on the basis of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. The sample of subjects for taking functional tests consisted of 32 basketball players. Anthropometric indicators were studied and the functional capabilities of athletes were assessed.

The research results and their discussion. In the course of the research, promising tools aimed at identifying and assessing fatigue in qualified basketball players were identified and validated. The data obtained during the anthropometric study showed that basketball players are in the average statistical segment for this category of athletes, i.e. their indicators are within the normal range. To study the functional capabilities of basketball players, the following tests were conducted: Wingate test, Romberg test, bioelectrical impedance measurement and gas analysis. The presented data for all studied indicators are within the normal range for the age of those involved and the specifics of the sport, their use makes it possible to objectively identify and assess the state of fatigue of qualified basketball players.

Conclusion. Based on the results of the experiment, it can be concluded that in modern student basketball, where there is a constant increase in the intensity of competitive activity, the issue of accelerated preparation becomes relevant. One of the basic elements of such training, which can ensure the quality of training sessions and the effectiveness of playing activities in college basketball, is the constant monitoring of the physical and psychological state of players, identifying the source of fatigue, conducting an objective assessment of it, and on this basis selecting the most effective means and methods to minimize this phenomenon.
