The purpose of the research is to develop and experimentally substantiate the structure and content of the annual macrocycle using a biologically based sports training system (BBSTS) for students of the Volga region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism involved in the student rowing league team.

Research methods and organization. To achieve the research purpose, we used a set of scientific methods: analysis of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observation, pedagogical testing, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics.

Research results. When planning the sports training of the student rowing league team using the BBSTS model, we studied the competition calendar, which is atypical for rowing sports, and used fundamental periodization models. We developed a macrocycle divided into training cycles, and passed "training stages" from 11 to 48 days. Based on the results of comparative indicators before the experiment and after its completion according to the Student's T-test: the time of passing the distance of 2000 m on a rowing ergometer in the group improved by 55.6 seconds. In the deadlift (lying position), the average ratio for the group increased by 11%. The average power of the anaerobic threshold in the group increased by 82.5 watts.

Conclusion. The conducted research provides the basis for the conclusion that when a biologically based sports training system (BBSTS) is introduced into the training process, the effectiveness of sports training and the growth of team sports results increases. The rational construction of the process of sports training and the choice of the appropriate approach (the nature of the training load), taking into account the biological regularity of the transition of the body to a new level of specific adaptation to muscle work, contribute to achieving high athletic results and effective performance at competitions.
